Officer Kills Larceny Suspect
Fatal shot happened near Richmond Highway and Fort Hunt Road.

A MOUNT VERNON police officer fatally shot and killed a Fredericksburg man during a traffic stop last weekend, and police officials have now launched an investigation into how a dispatch call for larceny led to the shooting. Police officials later identified the man as David Alan Masters, 52. Three officers with direct involvement in the incident have been placed on administrative leave while investigators determine why deadly force was used, although the department has not released their names or made them available for comment. Hope for Africa children’s choir performs at Methodist church in McLean.

IT FOR YEARS, Charles Wesley United Methodist Church in McLean has supported efforts to help residents of war-torn areas of Sudan. On Saturday, children from the East Africa Conference of the United Methodist Church, which includes Sudan and four other countries ravaged by war, did a favor for the church, providing an evening of song and dance for members and anyone else who was interested.

Rail Returns to Herndon
With unanimous endorsement of Metro’s Phase II Tax District, rail should serve town once again.

MARK BREDESEN, owner of the Autoscandia car repair shop, told the Herndon Town Council that he had just learned the day before that his business was to be included in a new special tax district that would place an additional levy on commercial properties in order to help fund Phase II of Rail to Dulles. "I’m proud to be part of this tax district and I’d like to see this project move forward," he said. Read more...
